Prices for prompt cargoes of South African coal free-on-board Richards Bay and for coal delivered into Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Antwerp rose on Monday on strong, renewed demand.
Indian traders returned to the market for prompt South African cargoes for January and February loading. Prices rallied late last week to $100.00 a tonne FOB Richards Bay from around $97.00 on Indian buying.
On Monday, a February loading panamax cargo traded at $101.50 a tonne FOB Richards Bay via brokers.
On electronic trading platform globalCOAL, February was bid at $101.50 and offered at $104.50 a tonne FOB Richards Bay.
A March delivery parcel of multi-origin coal traded at $132.00 a tonne DES ARA on globalCOAL on Monday, a price up around $2.00 from last week's levels.
