On the one hand, global coal price continues to rise. On the other hand, China's coal production is experiencing a temporary vacuum. The two seemingly contradictory information jointly play the same role- pushing up the domestic coal price further.
At the moment, China¡¯s power generation companies may be at the most distressed situation. And some companies have already issued the warning notice of a possible power shortage this Summer.
As the coal price goes up all the way, power generation companies who failed to bid for coal and electricity linkage are full of complaints. "Under the current price trend, more than 90% of electricity generation enterprises will suffer losses. With the arrival of the peak power consumption season, power shortage in summer will reoccur if the problem is not resolved.¡±, said Lu Qizhou, GM of China Power Investment Corporation, adding that if the coal price rises further, all power generation enterprises will suffer great losses.
