Here is Santanghu coalfield coal resource prospecting project area, the largest project area of geological prospecting for coal transport from XJ to east China. After nearly 3-month's prospecting, fruitful results have been seen.

Since starting work in this Feb., the No.161 Team under XJ Bureau of Coal Geology that is responsible for the coal prospecting in Santanghu has dispatched the geological prospecting teams from 9 provinces and regions in the nationwide, and ran over 50 drilling machines to carry out the work with joint efforts. Presently, coal resource has been found in 12 drilling machines operation areas, and the drilling depth reached 800 meters. The biggest coal layer thickness is 33 meters.

According to the initial prospecting, the coal area above 1,000 meters deep is about 1,100 square km, with over 10 bln tons of coal reserve. It can provide 2 to 3 large coal production areas for our country.

The whole prospecting work in Santanghu coalfield is expected to complete in June.
