Coal terminal expansion ends in north Queensland

ABC reported that the expansion of a major coal export terminal in north Queensland has been completed.

The Dalrymple Bay Terminal, south of Mackay is now the second biggest in the country. It will export 85 million tonnes of coal each year, an increase of about 30 million tonnes from its original capacity.

Mr Eric Kolatchew CEO of the Terminal said that the 5 year project took longer than expected. All things considered we're very happy.

He said that "You have to remember we've had two consecutive years of unprecedented wet weather in the Mackay region, which has really interfered with our schedule, but we're not too far off, and the fact that we're finished puts all that behind us."
