China to gradually cut coal proportion in energy consumption

China will gradually cut the proportion of coal in its energy consumption and elevate the proportion of the clean energy such as hydro power, wind power, solar energy and nuclear power, etc., said Wan Gang, Minister of China¡¯s Ministry of Science and Technology.

In China¡¯

s energy consumption, coal accounts for 70% in the direct energy and 80% in the thermal power generation, which has become the biggest challenge in the energy saving & emission reduction, Wan said.

China has issued related laws and plans which confirms the target and direction of the energy structure optimization, and also will release the revival plan of the energy industry.
