Siberian Coal Energy Company (SUEK), the largest coal corporation in Russia, planed to raise 10 percent of the coal export to meet the strong demand from Asia, Bloomberg reported.

SUEK has exported 12.2 million tonnes coal in the first five months of this year, up 11 percent year on year.

Asian demand is growing and will continue to grow, SUEK is seeking to boost the Asian share of its total exports to at least 40% this year, from 25% in 2007, Bloomberg citing Anna Belova, deputy CEO for Strategy from SUEK.

China has imported 2.898 million tonnes coal from Russia during Jan-May, however, the volume only stood at 22 tonnes during the same period.
