With the recovery of the power generation in June, China¡¯s coal consumption in power sector also posted a positive growth during the same period. Meanwhile, the international coal price has climbed over US$70 per tonnes.
Power plants¡¯ coal consumption in the late June grew notably; the daily coal consumption by June 28 was 1.85 million tonnes, up 15.6 percent compared with the mid-May, according to Shanghai Securities Journals. And the coal consumption on June 28 stood at 1.98 million tonnes, nearly broke 2 million tonnes.
The coal stock in power plant was 33.44 million tonnes by June 28, enough for 19 day¡¯s demand.
The swelling demand in Power plants props up the domestic coal price, said coal export Li Zhaolin.
Although the stockpile on Qinhuangdao port continued jumping, coal price on the benchmark port remained stable. Datong premium blend with heating value of 6,000 Kcal/kg was 590-605 yuan/t on Monday, slightly dipped 5 yuan/t from the pervious week.
On the international side, coal price has continued to rise. The spot coal from BJ, Australia jumped to US$73.13 per tonnes from US$ 68.69 per tonnes, up 6.5 percent.
In addition, coal stockpiled on Qinhuangdao and Guangzhou ports were 6.6 million tonnes and 2.7 million tonnes respectively on July 4, indicating an over supply in the domestic market.
