China Huaneng Group, the nation's biggest power company, plans to build a RMB 10 billion yuan coal-fired power plant in the northeastern province of Jilin.

The plant in Jiutai would have four "super-critical" generating units of 660 megawatts each, Huaneng Group said Tuesday.

The group has started building two of the units, with cost to be reported totaling RMB 4.88 billion yuan, Xinhua said. The first generator was due to begin operations in 2009, it said.

Huaneng Group is the parent of Huaneng Power International<HNP><600011>, which is listed in Hong Kong and the U.S.
