China's major
power plants produced 1.68 trln kilowatt hours (kWh) of electricity in the first half to June, up 12.9 pct year-on-year, the China Electricity Council said.
Coal-fired power plants produced 1.41 trln kWh, up 11.7 pct; hydropower stations produced 214.9 bln kWh, up 18.5 pct; and nuclear power stations produced 32.9 bln kWh, up 25.9 pct.
Power consumption stood at 1.69 trln kWh in the first six months, up 11.67 pct, the council said.
The northern region of Inner Mongolia, Guangxi in the southwest and the Xinjiang region in the northwest posted the fastest growth in consumption, with growth rated of 21.89 pct, 19.9 pct and 19.7 pct respectively.
Grid operators sold a combined 1.39 bln kWh of electricity in the first six months, an increase of 14.3 pct from a year earlier, it said.
China added 33 mln kilowatts of installed capacity during the January to June period, it noted.
