China Huaneng Group, the nation's biggest electricity producer, boosted sales by 38 percent in the first half of the year on increased output to meet demand in the world's fastest-growing major economy.
Huaneng Group boosted its revenue to 68.8 billion yuan ($10 billion) in the first six months, the company said in a statement on its Web site yesterday. Power generation increased 21 percent and coal production gained 23 percent, it said.
Huaneng Power International Inc., the Hong Kong-listed unit of Huaneng Group, said on July 15 it may post a loss in the first half of this year because record coal prices led to higher fuel costs.
