On the morning of Apr.18th, the groundbreaking ceremony of the key project of the state "11th Five-Year Plan" on LNG (liquefied natural gas)¡ªPetroChina Dalian LNG project was officially held on the construction site of Dalian receiving station, Liaoning Province. This is the first large-scale project of PetroChina commissioned for operation with the imported LNG resources.
Dalian LNG project consists of dock, receiving station and gas pipeline, with a total investment of over 10 billion yuan. The dock and receiving station are located at Catfish Bay, Dagushan Peninsula, Dalian City. The first phase project of the receiving station with a construction scale of 3 million tons/year, and a gas supply capacity of 4.2 billion cubic meters/year is planned to go into production in early 2011. The second phase project, with a construction scale of 6 million tons/year, and a gas supply capacity of 8.4 billion cubic meters/year, can reach the targets of 7.8 million tons/year in maximum receiving capacity and 1.05 million cubic meters/year in maximum gas supply capacity upon completion.
Dalian LNG project receives LNG resources from Australia, Qatar, etc mainly for urban gas and industrial fuels. The main pipeline linked to the planning gas transmission pipeline network in Northeast China can realize gas supply from a variety of sources. Relying on this project, construction of the natural gas downstream utilization project can be carried out to establish a complete LNG industrial chain, achieving economic, social and environmental benefits.
