China increased crude oil output by 1 percent last month to meet rising energy demand.
Production climbed to 15.31 million metric tons (3.74 million barrels a day) in November, according to a statement issued Thursday in Beijing from the China National Bureau of Statistics.
Chinese energy companies are boosting output to meet demand in an economy that expanded by 11.5 percent in the third quarter. China will replace the U.S. as the world's largest energy user early next decade as its oil demand more than doubles to 16.5 million barrels a day by 2030, led by rising car ownership, the International Energy Agency said Nov. 7.
Raw coal output rose 8 percent to 210 million tons and power generation increased 13.8 percent to 275.5 million megawatt-hours last month, it said.
Gasoline output gained 4.7 percent to 5.04 million tons, from a year earlier and production of diesel rose 6.1 percent to 10.6 million tons, according to a separate statement from the bureau today. Kerosene output increased 28 percent to 923,600 tons, it said.
