At least 250 oil and gas companies will be participating in the 37th Indonesia Petroleum Association (IPA) convention and exhibition (convex), Indonesia's largest international oil and gas event in Asia Pacific, which will be held in Jakarta next month.
Bambang Istadi, the chairman of the IPA convex organizing committee, said on Thursday that the convention and exhibition, which would take place at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC) from May 15 to 17, would be officially opened by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.
The event will also include an exhibition of state-of-the-art technology covering the 4,000-square-meter JCC, comprising Hall A and Hall B.
He said that this year's conference, which is themed "Promoting Investment in a Challenging Environment", was expected to attract more than 10,000 visitors to the exhibition and conference.
The convex will feature prominent speakers, including the oil and gas director general at the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry, Edy Hermantoro, Upstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Special Task Force (SKKMigas) chief Rudi Rubiandini and state energy company PT Pertamina's president director, Karen Agustiawan.
Oman's Oil and Gas Minister, Mohammed bin Hamad Al Rumhy, Thailand's National Petroleum Exploration and Production Company (PTTEP) CEO Tevin Vongvanich and Colombia's National Hydrocarbons Agency president Orlando Cabrales Segovia were also expected to speak at the conference, Bambang said.
