Ultra low sulfur kerosene, used to power buses and provide peak power, boosted its US Atlantic Coast differential by 12.25 cents Thursday.

Platts assessed ULSK at NYMEX June heating oil plus 31.25 cents/gal as bids were heard at plus 31 cents/gal. Platts assessed the NYMEX June contract at 3:15 p.m. EDT at $2.9023/gal, up 2.89 cents/gal.

The thinly traded product had been rangebound around Wednesday's minus 19 cents/gal level for the month.

"It's hard to find up here right now for utilities," one trader said. "It's needed prompt. But there is no offer at the moment."

ULS kerosene is a custom-blended fuel used by transit fleets in New York City and Philadelphia as well as peaker units for power generation in extreme heat or cold.
